Kuzushi
In the diagram of kuzushi, uke goes from upright position with their center of mass above their base of support. When tori pulls Uke forward, their center of mass is no longer above their base of support. This makes Uke unstable.
Base of Support
Base of support is described as the surface area of the sole of the feet and the space between them. With a wider base of support, an object is more stable.
